The frosting turned out really good though.
And we made some tasty strawberry ice cream.

Oh, Cathy!! I know exactly how you feel. There is this part of me that so desperately wants to be a good baker but most of my attempts turn out similar to yours. Bummer! But thank you for sharing it with us all.
